I grew up a few miles around Lough Eske from the stunning Harvey’s Point and I’d love to be your Harvey’s Point Wedding Videographer. Only in later years to realise that this hotel is one of the top hotels in Ireland! It is consistently in my top 5 list of reception to film weddings at in Ireland. The food is always so consistently high quality, the staff are so friendly, and the whole atmopsphere and scenery are perfect for any wedding day.
Lakeside wedding location for wedding video
Starting with the location though, you simply couldn’t get better. The original owner Jody Gysling was visiting Donegal from Swizerland and fell in love with the area. It reminded Jody of his Swiss home. The mountains all lead down through farmland and beautiful countryside to the majestic Lough Eske.
Here’s a stunning preview from Katie and Tom who held their wedding on the Pier in September 2021.
You are only a few miles from Donegal Town but you are right in the middle of the most beautiful area in Ireland (ok I might be a little biased but I’ve not seen much nicer anywhere!)
For photo locations you have some many little locations nearby from lakeside, forestry, countryside, mountain streams and beautiful vistas from up high on little country roads overlooking the Bluestack Mountains, Donegal Bay and Lough Eske.
Rooms & Suites & Wedding facilities
Harvey’s Point started as a small guesthouse with only 20 rooms, but the one thing is that they never stayed still! Every year there have been investments and complementary additions. In 2005 the new balroom was added, then the restaurant was extended. The Lakeshore suites were added in 2012 – these are ideal for your wedding party for that late night after party!
The new look bar was added in 2014 and then the amazing views over the lake added. In 2020 the ballroom was again redone and this once again puts it right to the top of style, comfort and is custom designed for weddings.
Weddings at Harvey’s Point
They only hold one wedding per day so rest assured you will have the place to yourself! The Honeymoon suite must be seen also – it’s massive! You can get married at the hotel with a civil ceremony or blessing in the new Garden suite or you have the choice of many Churches nearby. The closest Churches are in Clar, Donegal Town and Killymard.
Outdoor weddings are also possible at Harvey’s Point with the options of the terrace outside the balroom or the Pier is also a lovely choice.
Real Wedding Videos from Harvey’s Point
I’d love to share a few real wedding preview films here so you can get a better idea of my style of wedding film. My type of film is towards the more modern shorter film. I still can provide you with the traditional long videos like the long edit of the ceremony and the speeches in full as extra clips though. So you get the best of both worlds if you like. You will share the main Feature Film with your family and friends – but it’s nice to have the full length films too.

Tips for weddings at Harvey’s Point
For an Outdoor wedding at Harvey’s then you can consider the terrace at the side. Theres a nice paved area for your guests with trees framing the view of the lake. For Indoor Weddings the new Garden suite is excellent with lots of nice natural light from the full length windows.
As a frequent Harvey’s Point Wedding Videographer I love to film there and I have a few great tips in making sure your film will be captured perfectly captured. But you don’t need to worry about that! I’ll stay in the background and you just need to enjoy your day and I’ll look forward to sharing your film with you soon after the wedding.
Bar is open until 1.30 and closes for a little while but reopens for residents then until 3am. If you want to stay up a little extra then consider the lakeside suites for you and your bridal party as a getaway for the afterparty!
Have a pre drinks reception at the Garden suite. This keeps all your guests together and you can provide tea/coffee etc or also maybe a Gin Bar etc or bottles of beer. You can encourage all the guest not to delay then after the ceremony and start the mingling nice and early.
If you are coming to the area and are looking for a Religious Church Ceremony then there are plenty of options nearby. However it may not be a bad idea to have your own celebrant lined up, as while it may be possible to get the church, you may not be able to get a local priest/minister as they are serving multiple churches.
Samantha and Micheál at Haveys are amazing and they will be able to advise you on so much and are great help in the planning process so make sure to stay in touch with them.
Fireworks on the pier right before your first dance starts is a great way to get everyone up and back in action after the delicious meal! You can then all arrive back in to the dancefloor ready to party!
And don’t forget to book back into Harveys for your first anniversary to come back and relive the day in different circumstances.
