I loved this outdoor wedding on the shores of Lough Eske at Harvey’s Point in late 2019. A cool couple, with such a great gang of friends from all corners of the world. People travelled from Australia, UK, all over Ireland and from further afield to celebrate together.

Claire is originally from Killybegs in Co Donegal and Lachlan is from Australia. The pair now live in London but returned to Claire’s homeplace to get married. Harvey’s Point is consistently ranked in the 10 ten wedding venues in Ireland. Therefore it’s no wonder that they picked this beautiful location only 30 minutes from Claire’s family home.

Outdoor wedding ceremony

They opted for an outdoor wedding ceremony and that is often on the pier. But they used the little garden to the side. I think it was a better choice than the pier. As there are lovely mature trees, manicured gardens, a patio for guests and it a perfect area for a wedding. Siobhan Duffy Browne was the registrar. It was a such a lovely ceremony with many personalised and unique little touches. The ceremony was made even more special with the music of Deane Conaghan. The talented singer figured some way to get a plug outside for his keyboard!

Photographer Paul McGinty brought us all to a few really cool locations to get some lovely scenes of the happy couple. He took in the beautiful nature scenes of the wild Bluestack Mountains. Like myself Paul grew up only a few miles around the lake so it’s an area both of us still love to capture great photo and video. In fairness Paul still lives there and knows the area much better than me now. So I must admit I am perfectly happy to let him lead me to the fantastic locations he always seems to find.

Harvey’s Point Wedding Reception

Then into the stunning Harvey’s Point Country Hotel. This is always one of the most consistently high quality of service you could find anywhere. As I mentioned it’s always at the top of the lists all over the Island. It’s no surprise the hospitality, food and surroundings are top notch. And as of Christmas 2019 the entire ballroom is being renovated. Spring 2020 will see a brand new reception room. The room and ceremony decor was by Monica and Raymond Blaine. Raymond and Monica always put those extra finishing touches that just set off a room.

The lively crowd of family and friends mingled into a great group. It’s always a worry when people travel so far for a wedding if they will get on together – but no problem for this gang. Everyone was there to celebrate. The advantage of spending the full day in the one venue for ceremony and reception is in keeping a group together. I finished filming after getting some great dancing scenes. By then not only had a lovely couple confirmed their lives to each other. But it was obvious that many great friendships were being created all around the world from the wedding guests.
