Shannon and Kieran’s wedding day kicked off in style with a beautiful first look on the beach. The day was a beautiful blend of heart, fun, and family, set against the stunning backdrop of the Donegal coastline and the historic elegance of Rockhill House.
From the early morning preparations in Dunfanaghy to the emotional first look on the shores of Portnablagh beach, this was a day full of deeply personal touches and unforgettable moments.

The day began before sunrise with hair and makeup by the talented Tara O’Farrell and Olivia McVeigh. Shannon got ready in a quiet holiday home near the sea with her bridesmaids – Leona, Niamh, Sinead, Hannah, and Jane – surrounded by laughter, nerves, and the kind of joy that only comes with lifelong friendships. Meanwhile, just ten minutes down the road, Kieran took things at a slower pace: a relaxed breakfast at Lizzie’s Diner, a few laughs with his groomsmen, and a gift that came with a memorable surprise…

Their emotional first look and private vows on Portnablagh beach set the tone for the rest of the day – deeply personal and completely authentic. It was here too that they gathered with close family for pre-ceremony photos with Paul McGinty of Ghorm Photography, making the most of the wild Atlantic scenery before heading to the ceremony at Rockhill.

The ceremony itself was truly special – officiated by Humanist celebrant Gail Quinn, with Shannon’s sisters and close friends providing the music. From handfasting rituals and surprise singalongs to nephews lighting candles and mums being gently pulled into the ceremony, every part of it reflected who Shannon and Kieran are.

The celebrations continued at Rockhill House with a lively drinks reception, speeches filled with warmth and humour, and the kind of party that only a great band (The Yetis) and a room full of happy people can create.
Their story is one of love, laughter, music, and Donegal magic. I can’t wait to share their wedding film soon.
