The wedding of Clare and Paul was my first visit to this beautiful wedding venue of Killeavy Castle. Only 10 minutes away from Newry City the lovingly restored Castle sits as the centrepiece of an 350 acre estate. As well as the Castle there is a boutique hotel, a spa, and the custom built wedding pavillion behind the Castle itself. A great choice of wedding venue by Clare and Paul and a stunning location to get out the drone from some majestic aerial shots!
Bride Clare got prepared with Bridesmaid Lisa Doran at her family home with the help of Oh So Boho Hair and Erin Devlin Makeup from Dungannon. Photographer Sinead Murphy was on hand to document the morning also and as a family friend must have made capturing the images so much more special. Anna Protherough (howiecreative) arrived soon with the beautiful floral arrangements and then Star Car Hire landed in their convertible classic Porsche.
Groom Paul Walsh and Best Man Bobby Kane were a few miles away getting ready in the Carrickdale Hotel and once ready they headed to Clady Chapel where Fr Greg Carville was getting prepared for the Nuptial Mass.
For the Mass the lovely music was by Paul, Eadaoin and Madonna and after the ceremony was concluded it was away to Killeavy Castle for the reception where Raglan Road were getting the crowd warmed up at the drinks reception. This is an eyecatching hotel with 3 parts. A modern hotel to the front. The classical restored Castle for the wedding party to stay in overnight. And also the pavilion nestled behind the castle for the reception meal and the dancing.
Lisa from Lisa’s Healthy Kitchen made the tasty cake which got pride of place at the top of the room to be cut after the beautiful Killeavy Castle meal.
The Killeavy Castle estate has a brilliant setup of 3 separate elements – firstly you have the modern hotel which your guest can stay at, also a great locatio for your after party! Then you have the castle itself which you, family and bridal party can stay in. And to the rear is the banqueting markee which is for your wedding reception. The drinks reception is also held in the castle and in the grounds around it. There is also a cool system of tunnels leading from the castle to the hotel and one even leads to a little hidden bar under the castle!
After the banquet it was time to party the night away and The Trips were on hand to play a lively set which had everyone on their feet and rocking the dancefloor.
