I love weddings around Christmas time and was looking forward to this one for ages! Coleen and David were travelling back to Ireland from their new home in Denmark to tie the knot.

Bride Coleen Fitzpatrick hails from Mullinalaghta, in Co Longford who recently won the GAA Leinster Club Championship making history as the first Longford club to ever achieve this. An amazing feat for a small rural townland. However on 20th December 2018 the excitement wasn’t about football it was time for the wedding of Coleen and David!

Groom David Greaney got ready at the nearby Piker’s Lodge just over the County divide in Cavan. He was helped by Best Man Ronan Joyce and Best man Michael O’Donoghue before heading to the Church. For me this was short drive then onto the bridal preparations past some beautiful lakes and lovely little winding country roads through a picturesque landscape.

Back over in Mullinalaghta Collen was with Helen Perry as Maid of Honour at her family home. A few well wishers popped in to say hello and soon a bottle of champagne was opened which is one of them wedding morning traditions I love. Mainly as the guests get some champagne but it’s always great for photo and video!

Fr Michael Bannon officiated at the nuptial Mass at St Columba’s Church. The Church was lovely with Christmas decor, a crib and a tree, giving a lovely warm feeling inside. Photographer for the day was Paul McGinty of Ghorm Studio in Donegal, and I always enjoy working with Paul so I kknew this was going to be a great day!

After the wedding it was over to the beautiful Slieve Russell in Co Cavan. We had a short explore of the grounds and found some nice photo locations and got some nice pieces of video which I knoew would complement the full wedding feature film. Then after the meal the excellent Vertigo Band took over and kept the lively crowd going for the night.

It was a beautiful day and massive congratulations to a lovely couple and many happy wishes to you both for your future together.
