Markree Castle Wedding Preview Film

A massive congratulations to Efa & Anthony who were married on 21st September 2018! They celebrated their wedding in Cliffoney Co Sligo and in Markree Castle.

After a blustery start to the morning the weather calmed down and it turned in the most beautiful of days. September is a nice time for a wedding. Once June and July was the most popular time of the year to get married but the past few years have seem September becoming a really popular month. There is a lot more daylight than the winter months that are coming so there’s less pressure but the colours all around are changing and there is a crisper felling to this time of year. It’s generally nice and cool and before any winter storms. And when you know you are going to a castle later in the day with roaring log fires you nearly want it to be windy or colder outside to get into the warmth!

Bride Efa McDermott got prepared in Mullaghmore in Co Sligo. Mullaghmore is a little village on a peninsula surrounded by ocean views, and framed with striking views of Benbulben mountain. It’s a popular surfing spot also with surfers coming from all over the world to ride massive waves. Efa got ready with Maid of Honour Joanna Bourke, Aine Gillespie, Beth Lindsey, Elizabeth Adams and Katie Williams Wood. Mum and Dad Maura and Tommy were helping out too and Willow the dog also seemed to be enjoying the scenes around the house in the morning!

Groom Anthony Taylor was looked after by Andrew Taylor, Jason Glass, Lester Clayton, Liam Og Gillespie and Sky Wood. And Ushers at St Molaise Church in Cliffoney were Jesse Thomas and Neil Herschan. Mum and Dad John and Judy arrived in to take their place at the front of the Church awaiting the Bride’s arrival.

Flowers were By Ailin’s Flowers and cars by U2R1. Ailin always does a stellar job with her wedding flower arrangements – indeed she did our own wedding flowers back in the day!

Pageboy Oscar Clayton Pitts and Flowergirls Poppy Dovenor and Rose Traynor Price were on hand to lead the walk down the aisle.

Fr Christy McHugh led the Nuptial Mass and after the ring exchange a reflection was read by Naomi Traynor White. Fr Christy is based in Grange and Cliffoney and for a wedding in either he is so easy going and fun and brings lots of joy and fun to the wedding celebrations.

Family and friends provided beautiful music during the ceremony including Margaret Rhatigan, Orla & Riona Gillespie, Ian Lindsey, Katie Williams Wood, Sky Wood and Liam Chau. Such talented singers and so nice to have the music so personalised.

On route to the reception at the amazing Markree Castle Efa & Anthony’s photographer Fergal McGrath picked some beautiful locations for some stunning photographs.

Markree Castle is really one of the most beautiful Castles I’ve been lucky to create a wedding video in. it’s just outside Colooney in Co Sligo and is the Ancestral seat of the Cooper family. It’s been refurbished recently so it’s able to combine its modern makeover perfectly with the charm and romance of the historic castle that it is. And being in Colooney it’s only minutes away from the Wild Atlantic Way and some stunning views over the ocean.

After the speeches and toasts & meal were completed it was down to the cool Dungeon Bar where the Tru-Tones band kicked off the night’s music and the lively crowd partied the night away!

Many happy years ahead to Efa & Anthony and delighted to be chosen as videographer for your wedding!
